John Messores’in Aikido’daki derecesi rokkudan dır (6. Dereceden siyah kuşak). Aikido Schools of Ueshiba organizasyonu içindeki en kıdemli eğitmenlerden biridir.

Messores Sensei 1950 New Jersey doğumludur ve dövüş sanatlarına 1968’de Mark Smith’le Karate çalışarak başlamıştır.

Aikido çalışmalarına Bill McIntyre’ın öğrencisi olarak 1973 senesinde Sarasota, Florida’da başlamıştır. Kendisi, Shihan Mitsugi Saotome’yi 1975’te Amerika Birleşik Devletleri’ne davet eden orijinal dojonun üyelerindendir. Bu dojo sonraları Saotome Sensei’in ABD’deki ilk dojosu olacaktır.

Saotome Shihan’ın ABD’ye geldiği ilk senelerde Messores Sensei ve birkaç başka öğrenci Saotome Shihan’ın ‘’deshi’’si (öğrencisi/çırağı) olarak yıllarca her gün birkaç saat çok yoğun antreman yapmışlardır. Messores Sensei neredeyse otuz yıl boyunca bizzat Saotome Shihan’ın öğrencisi olmuştur.

Messores Sensei’in adı Mitsugi Saotome Shihan’ın 1986’da yayımlanan Aikido and the Harmony of Nature (Shambhala Press) adlı kitabına, 2002’de yayımlanan The Budo Experience (Budo Productions LLC) ‘ a ve yine 2002 senesinde yayımlanan 2002 Aiki Expo Demo video a katkılarda bulunmuştur. Ayrıca adı Aikido Journal ansiklopedisinde ve Aikido FAQ da da geçer.

Messores Sensei 1980 lerin başından bu yana Tampa Bay ASU Aikido’da kıdemli eğitmen ve gözetmen olarak faaliyet göstermekte, South Florida Üniversitesi de dahil olmak üzere birkaç farklı yerde ders vermektedir. ABD’de ve dünyada onlarca seminer ve gösteriye eğitmen olarak davet edilmişliği vardır. Kendisi de, öğrencileri de, Aikido camiasının son derece saygın üyeleri arasındadır.

John Messores is ranked as rokkudan (6th degree black belt) in Aikido. He is one of the most senior instructors in the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba organization, and among the highest ranked Americans affiliated with Hombu (the world Aikikai headquarters).

Messores Sensei was born in New Jersey in 1950, and began his martial arts training in Karate under Mark Smith in 1968. He started training in Aikido in Sarasota, Florida under Bill McIntyre Sensei in 1973. He was a member of the original Aikido dojo that invited Shihan Mitsugi Saotome to come to America in 1975, which became Saotome Sensei's first dojo in the United States. In those initial years after Saotome Shihan came to America, Messores Sensei and a few other early students trained with him several hours a day under very intensive conditions for several years as Saotome Shihan's true deshi (apprentices / disciples). Messores Sensei has been a personal student of Saotome Shihan for almost thirty years.

Messores Sensei was featured in the 1986 book Aikido and the Harmony of Nature (Shambhala Press) by Mitsugi Saotome Shihan, the 2002 production The Budo Experience (Budo Productions LLC), and the 2002 Aiki Expo Demo video. He also has an Aikido encyclopedia listing with the Aikido Journal and the Aikido FAQ.

Messores Sensei has been the senior and supervising Tampa Bay ASU Aikido instructor since the early 1980s, teaching at several locations including the University of South Florida. He has taught dozens of invited seminars and demonstrations all over the United States, and both he and his students have a strong reputation wthin the Aikido community.
